Both labels join the existing The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years old to make up the Double Cask Collection. It’s older cousin, the 18 Years Old, features an amber hue and an aroma that mixes the spicier note of ginger to go with the dried fruit and toffee, with some finishing notes of warm oak spice and orange. The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old features a golden-brown tone that brings to mind butterscotch, along with aromas of dried fruit, toffee and vanilla. The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old offers more depth and complexity, with raisins and sultanas subtly balanced by a long after taste of warming oak spice,” says Martin. “With the Double Cask 15 Years Old, the delicate and indulgent flavours of American oak, including honey, citrus and chocolate, balance The Macallan’s more classic style of rich fruits, sherry and wood spice. The casks are crafted and filled with sherry in Jerez, Spain, to season it and infuse the wood with all the fruit flavours of a Spanish sherry, before it is emptied and taken to The Macallan’s stunning distillery in Speyside, Scotland, to be filled with single malt whisky and left to age. The Double Cask collection is so named as the casks are made from oak sourced from both Northern Spain and France’s Pyrenees region in Europe, and from Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri in the US.

“We offer a fully immersive retail experience, promising discovery into the very heart of The Macallan, through events, advocacy programmes and tastings, including opportunities where whisky enthusiasts can be part of bespoke whisky appreciation sessions with our brand ambassador and discover our full range of liquids, including our Fine and Rare collections and the exceptional 72 Year Old,” says Jaime Martin, managing director for Edrington Hong Kong & Macau, the company that own, produces and markets The Macallan whiskies. A global first for The Macallan, the brand will hold tastings and experiential events at the retail site. The team at The Macallan hopes to showcase all this at The Macallan Room in K11 MUSEA, a dark-paneled room featuring the brand’s much-loved whiskies, including bottles from The Macallan’s Fine and Rare collections, such as a 72-year-old single malt that were placed in the casks just after the end of World War II. The Macallan Room at K11 MUSEA is a showcase for its Scottish single malt whiskies, offering tastings and other experiential events. With an aroma made up of smelling notes that can range from apples and raisins to toffee, vanilla and chocolate, and a rich warm colour that resembles creamy caramel, a single malt whisky is both decadent and refined, and one that is as intriguing and full of character as a fine wine. The Macallan’s new site at K11 MUSEA in Hong Kong is a showcase for its Scottish single malts, offering tastings and other experiential events to introduce guests to the aromas and tastes of its whiskies.
